We have known for a long time that many of our fellow community based organizations (CBO’s) desire to make their services more accessible to the Hispanic community but do not have the language capacity nor the cultural understanding to do so. We intend to meet with the Community Based Organization leaders or business owners and build open relationships and have ongoing feedback loops about barriers to access, as well as struggles organizations are having in efforts to serve the community.
We also intend to build a base of local employers who value their Hispanic employees by holding regular discussions about their employee’s well-being, offering Spanish language classes and other learning events. And, we remain committed to our work of advocating on this community’s behalf with local government, law enforcement and first responders.
